A hearing test provides an evaluation of the sensitivity of a person's sense of hearing and is most often performed by an audiologist using an audiometer. An audiometer is used to determine a person's hearing sensitivity at different frequencies.
Levels of hearing loss
There are different levels of hearing loss. Some forms of hearing loss can be treated with a hearing aid. If your hearing falls into the 26-70 dB range (mild to moderate), a hearing aid can be very effective in restoring sounds for your daily life.

Do I need a hearing test?
A hearing test is usually a simple procedure that can be done in one standard appointment. We recommend annual hearing checkups for adults over 60 years old, especially if you have been exposed to industrial noise or already have some hearing loss. Younger adults should have their hearing checked every three to five years.
